LONDON EDITION TYRES NOW AVAILABLE!
We have now officially launched the limited edition, ‘London’ range of bicycle tyres. They will be aimed primarily, but not exclusively, at London cyclists & commuters. Some of their most famous commuting tyres will be included in the range- The Marathon Plus, The Durano Plus and The Marathon Plus ATB.

In a year when London will become the focus of the world’s attention, we wanted to celebrate the city’s ever increasing love for cycling and its culture by producing something exclusive and unique for its residents.
So in addition to our usual Schwalbe branding a ‘LONDON’ reflective label flanked by 2 reverse silhouette images of London landmarks will adorn the sidewalls of our most popular commuting tyres.
The technical specifications of the tyres don't differ from the standard equivalent so expect the 5 mm blue SmartGuard puncture protection belt that comes as standard with these tyres.

The product launch took place at popular London bike workshop/café ‘Look Mum No Hands!’ and was followed by a cycle tour to Big Ben!
The London range of tyres will be available in cycle retail shops across the UK and will not be available to purchase through our online shop:

Radioshack-Nissan-Trek rides Schwalbe

The strongest named team in the WorldTour 2012 rides Schwalbe Ultremo. Newly formed team Radioshack-Nissan-Trek has emerged from Team Radioshack and Leopard Trek, which was sponsored by Schwalbe in 2011.
Schwalbe will equip the team with its Ultremo HT tubular tyres. The hand-sewn, professional tyre is fondly recalled by former Leopard Trek riders Fränk and Andy Schleck (Luxembourg), Fabian Cancellara (Switzerland), Jens Voigt and Linus Gerdemann (Germany). Radio-Shack riders around ‘Routinier’ Chris Horner (USA) and German ‘Tour’ specialist Andreas Klöden continue to strengthen the already powerful squad – and hopes are high for successes in the major tours as well as the spring classic races. „We expect a lot from this commitment and we are delighted to continue as a supplier with such a strong, international team.“, says Doris Klytta, Schwalbe HQ PR and Sponsorship manager. In the first week of January Christian Lademan, Schwalbe Race support and Product Manager, already traveled to the first team training camp in Mallorca and tested different prototypes in the Palma velodrome. Schwalbe’s philosophy for many years has been to develop tires actively with the riders. Klytta: „This close co-operation is quite unusual and not natural in the industry. “
The Ultremo HT provides riders with the ideal mix of speed, puncture protection and extraordinary grip, which gives them supreme confidence in steep and difficult alpine descents containing many sharp bends. The strength of Schwalbe tubular tyres lies in the combination of classical, Italian style manufacturing with a latex tube in combination with high-end materials like the new RaceStar Triple Compound. Doris Klytta: „At present this compound is the benchmark in tyre technology. No other bicycle tyre manufacturer can combine rubber mixtures so purposefully in series production. Only the combination of the compounds makes maximum powers possible”. In the meantime triple compound rubber mixtures have become a Schwalbe hallmark
RECALL INFORMATION TUBULAR CEMENT
We are sorry to inform you that there has been a technical error with a small number of Schwalbe tubular tyre adhesive (Tubular Cement) doses of one particular production lot from 2011. We have been informed by our supplier that some doses have impurities and the glue in those so affected will possibly not have sufficient adhesive qualities. The doses concerned have production code 110509 and are exclusively in 180 g cans (see illustration above). Supplies before May 2011 are definitely not affected.

DANNY HART DOWNHILL WORLD CHAMPION ON DIRTY DAN
19 year old Brit, Danny Hart, celebrated the greatest success of his career at the Mountainbike world championships in Champery (Switzerland): With horizontal rain and under extremely difficult conditions he secured the Downhill World Champion’s title with an incredible eleven seconds margin.
The „young gun“ of the Giant Team, who started riding Schwalbe tyres from the beginning of the year, used a tyre he could rely upon for this final run; a tyre that was not only ideal for the deep, sticky mud but also had the right name: Dirty Dan.
The Schwalbe Product Manager must have had some kind of premonition about both the Brit and the track conditions, because the special mud tyre provided for the World Championship finals was a ‚Danny Hart’ signature edition. And the personalized tire certainly brought him luck: His inimitable style and hard riding now means he’s called Danny Hart, World Champion!

HANS DAMPF FOR EVERY TRAIL

Hans Dampf is as much at home on back streets as it is on tough trails. Strong lugs, grippy TrailStar Compound and additionally strengthened sidewalls (SnakeSkin) make it feel as comfortable on rugged terrain as on „flowing“ single-track, so described Schwalbe’s Head Technician, Markus Hachmeyer.
TrailStar Compound has been used to achieve outstanding grip. „The grip is like the tYre has been coated with maple syrup“, wrote American mountainbike magazine „Decline“. The unique grip is attributable to the triple compound where Schwalbe has optimized and combined three different rubber mixtures specifically for All-Mountain/Enduro: a grippy mixture is used in the tread center, an even grippier formula on the tyre shoulders, while there is an easy rolling base compound under the tread. Weighing in at just 750 grams Hans Dampf rolls relatively easily and is also not bad on ascents. The verdict of „Decline“ magazine: „Schwalbe sets new standards in rubber.“
For touring riders there is a Hans Dampf version with a faster rubber compound, PaceStar triple compound. This has been optimized for speed and low rolling resistance and is why this version is preferable on the rear wheel.
The profile of the Hans Dampf offers complete control because the large lugs have a huge contact area. This high proportion of positive tread gives the rider confidence in every situation and at the same time minimizes wear. An additional woven layer, SnakeSkin, strengthens the sidewall. Weighing around 40 grams SnakeSkin casing provides protection from sharp rocks and stones.
Hans Dampf has a further new feature: Tubeless Ready. The SnakeSkin, which is extremely thick already, makes conversion of the allrounder into Tubeless with the addition of latex fluid really simple. And so prepared, Hans Dampf rides like a tubeless tyre with all of the well known benefits: high puncture protection, low rolling resistance and first-rate trail performance, since it can be ridden at lower pressure.
2.35 inch is the classic size for versatile trail riding. The test riders of US magazine „Decline“ put it this way: „The width and high volume add to this tyre’s ability to instill confidence and grip whatever you put in front of it.“ Rolls over everything – this applies in particular to the increasingly popular Twentyniner: That’s why Hans Dampf will also come in 29 inch.
Just like all Schwalbe products Hans Dampf is available in specialist cycle stores.
